The NIHPO team had the opportunity to attend the HL7 FHIR Connectathon event in Baltimore, MD on September 17 and 18, 2022.

HL7 FHIR, a global standard for health care data exchange
As per HL7’s website. “HL7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) event makes implementers and developers come together and meet to hold technical discussions about FHIR FHIR specifications, develop FHIR-based solutions, and exchanged data with other FHIR interfaces.”

The NIHPO team gained hands-on experience with HL7 FHIR
Jose C. Lacal, our CTO, and Diego Caso, a key member of our Development Team, attended this meeting.
Their goal was to learn how to build a FHIR Server to expose our Synthetic Health Data-generating platform to all interested users.
NIHPO’s upcoming FHIR Server will provide FHIR-compliant synthetic people (SynthPerson™), synthetic Personal Health Records (SynthPHR™), and synthetic clinical trial data (SynthTrial™) records to all users for free.
As remarked by HL7, this Connectathon was a great opportunity to work directly with FHIR developers and senior members of the FHIR standards development team which, as the FHIR Community knows, requires continuous learning and preparation to be able to participate on these technical discussions.
DevDays coming!
We are excited to know about the upcoming event HL7 FHIR DevDays next 6th – 9th June 2023 that will be held in Amsterdam through a hybrid format.
The NIHPO team already saved the date and we’ll be in attendance.
